President of KVA - Virtually Everywhere

What is a Virtual Assistant-
A Virtual Assistant (or simply VA), is an independent contractor providing administrative, technical, or sometimes creative assistance to clients--usually to other independent entrepreneurs and solo and small business practices. Virtual assistants work from their own office (hence "virtual"), thus making it a fairly popular (and growing) profession. It is estimated that there are about 5,000-8,000 virtual assistants worldwide. Common modes of communication and data delivery include the Internet, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and fax machine. Although the occupation gives a degree of independence, work is on a contractual basis, and a long-lasting cooperation is standard. Typically 5 years of administrative experience in an office is expected at such positions as executive assistant, secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, legal secretary, real estate assistant, office manager, etc.

Do You Have a Value Proposition?

Value Proposition

By Katrina Garcia

I didn't use to really ask myself this question until I had the distinct opportunity to attend Vanessa Summers workshop.  It's not that I didn't really think about what services I could provide to my clients, but what value did I provide?  Let's break this down to make it a bit easier to digest.

When looking at the following pieces, ask yourself these questions in order to really pull together a cohesive value proposition.

Services -

  • What type of services can you provide your client's that your competition cannot?
  • Are your services unique and why?
  • What gaps do you fill that your competition dose not?

Products -

  • Are you providing your clients with:
  • Ebooks
  • Free Reports
  • Instructional or informational videos
  • CD's

Knowledge Base -

  • Do you share your resources?
  • Are your client's/customer's aware of your expertise?
  • Do you have a special talent (i.e., great at training others on Microsoft Suite programs, optimal communication skills, a knack for writing, etc.)

Experience -

  • What type of experience can you bring to the table?
  • What's your background, (i.e., working experience, what's in your head that your client's don't know but could really benefit from?)
